POZ Mineral Australia publishes excellent video on UltraGPR
Groundradar’s Australian partners, Core Geophysics, has undertaken a series of extensive surveys in rural Western Australia to map paleochannels anticipated to contain diamonds for POZ Minerals. POZ has published an excellent video explaining the exploration program using UltraGPR here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeTNv5scIJU. The video also discusses failed attempts using consumer-grade radar systems to map the paleochannels.
Groundradar undertakes large iron ore exploration project in West Africa
Groundradar has had extensive experience around the Mt. Nimba iron ore deposits in Guinea and Liberia, having used UltraGPR in 2011-2012 to map detrital canga deposits to over 60 m. A new project will use UltraGPR to map BIF occurrences in the region and is expected to continue for two months.
Groundradar conducts extensive alluvial diamond exploration project in Sierra Leone
Following from extensive work within the Sewa River conducted by Groundradar in the late 1990s through 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2008, Groundradar has commenced a large survey using UltraGPR technology within the Sewa River to map potholes, the thickness of gravel beds and the presence and thickness of hardpans with the active river channel.
Geo-Edge Jamaica conducts large utilities mapping project in Montego Bay
Groundradar’s partner in the Caribbean, Geo-Edge Jamaica, has completed a large utilities detection project along the famous “Hip Strip” through downtown Montego Bay. The survey used a multi-channel GPR system to map utilities and pavement structure to depths over over 2.5 m in 3D using differential GPS.
Groundradar visits Saudi Arabia for testing of UltraGPR on new deposits
Groundradar conducted extensive exploration projects with UltraGPR in 2011 and 2012 for bauxite and phosphates in Saudi Arabia. The client has recently invited Groundradar to return to test the latest UltraGPR iteration on new, deeper, deposits.
UltraGPR used successfully on lithium projects in Ontario and Quebec
UltraGPR has been used on lithium exploration projects in Ontario and Quebec with excellent penetration and profile resolution. Further expanded surveys are expected to be conducted in the coming months.
Groundradar visits Rio Tinto’s Jadar Lithium project in Serbia
A geotechnical investigation using long-range GPR has been performed at the Jadar lithium project in Serbia for Rio Tinto. The results are encouraging and further work may be performed during the summer.
Groundradar at PDAC 2018
With Groundradar’s dramatic growth in the last six months, PDAC afforded new partners an opportunity to discuss the implications of new radar technologies to their exploration and development projects. Significant interest was shown in Groundradar’s deep GPR technology, as well as borehole radar instruments.
UltraGPR undergoing field trials at Koniambo, New Caledonia
Groundradar first visited Koniambo when it was a Falconbridge exploration project in 1997-98, and Dr. Francke conducted a large portion of his MSc research on Koniambo and Goro. 20 years later, Koniambo is re-examining the application of long-range UltraGPR to map the lateritic weathering profile at their deposits.
